Money Crunch! Loan! Coronavirus!these are few terminologies which have created stressful situations for our mind.

As Aristotle found that money is a common measure of everything , makes things measurable and makes it possible to equalise them, making epistemology of money crucial. Money is a major problem in lives of people worldwide, probably at a higher level due to the pandemic. A situation like this, doesn’t provide leverage to steal it from the people sailing on the same boat.

The reason for writing on it is because a scam with my friends made me realise the actual value of hard earned money. The incident also tempted me to convey the concern and awareness about property scams to the people around the globe.

According to Abcfinance, UK there are millions lost each year due to the scams related to property. My close friends were a prey of this giant trap of property scam. To make it a fancy read I have written it in a story format. This is a tale of two girls in a foreign land with their dreams wrapped up in a suitcase, reached London. For basic survival they required basic necessities — food, clothing and shelter.

They had booked a small room for themselves to share from a facebook group. During the time of the pandemic, they were also aware about the money problems. But the worst climax of their trip was yet to happen. The place they had booked was live in the pictures but was dead in reality. The owner of the house they had been contacting didn’t turn up and had blocked them from all the social media platform as well as contact list.

Images proving that the transaction was made and room booked but blocked later ( with no double tick on whats app and the statement ‘you can no longer reply to this participant’ on facebook). The images are in a particular order.

I know how terrifying situation that might be being stranded on the road . After searching the block, talking to people on the street and knocking doors they were in the middle of nowhere but all they were concerned about was the money. Talking to them about their problems made me realise that money is irresistible, even when people say that money can’t buy you happiness, it did bring despair to them.

All they could do was contact the police and the bank, thinking of a solution to their problem. They contacted the bank, so they could help them monetarily and the police authority to catch the scammer. It has been over 2 months of constant follow up, they have received no affirmative response or solution.

After having a conversation with them, the possible solutions they told me was to never transfer money to an unknown agent without properly checking the place, just for its mere existence. It happened to them but could happen to anybody.

It is a tough time and money is an essential element, especially during this time when the citizens of the world are standing together in unison to fight the pandemic. So, it is necessary to be concerned about the situation and create awareness about scammers.
